How Much in a Cord?

So, you want to know how many RELIABURN Premium Fuel Bricks are equivalent to a cord of firewood?  Well, it's compliacted.  RELIABURN Premium Fuel Bricks are nicely consistent in size, weight and moisture content. Firewood is highly variable so it's very difficult to compare.  Here's how we estimate it.

A cord of firewood is 128 cubic feet of wood.  However, depending on how you stack it, there can be significant air gaps in that space.  RELIABURN Premium Fuel Bricks are uniform in size and shape and stack together tightly.  So volume doesn't really work for comparison purposes.

Next, we can look at weight.  A cord of firewood can weigh between 2,100 lbs. for dry fir to over 5,000 lbs. for unseasoned sycamore (reference).  That's quite a range!  We calculate an average of the weights for a cord of dry firewood of 2,856 lbs., which we round up to 3,000 lbs.

Our packages of 6 RELIABURN Premium Fuel Bricks weigh 21 lbs. each, so we roughly equate [144 packages = 864 bricks = 3,024 lbs.] to a full cord of wood or [48 packages = 288 bricks = 1,008 lbs.] to a face cord (1/3 cord) of wood.

While we can estimate equivalent weights, there's no comparison in quality, consistency and ease of use!
